Versatile and Expandable
The Challenger is your best value for high-production conventional plasma and heavy duty oxy-fuel cutting. A time-proven design featuring sturdy, long-lasting components will boost your production to new levels. The Challenger is available in standard cutting widths between 5’ and 10’ (1.5m to 3m). Rail extensions may be added to increase the standard 10’ (3m) effective cutting length up to 40’ (12.2m) or more.

CNC Controls
The powerful Burny 10 LCD Plus comes standard on Challenger systems. This PC-based control runs in a user-friendly yet powerful Windows XP environment and has a 15" TFT touch-screen monitor.

Heavy Duty Construction
The secrets to Challenger’s single-side drive stability are in its 6-foot long master side truck, powerful drive system, and rigid back deck on the main carriage. Precision machined tongue-in-groove 90# T-Rails are hardened and mounted on 6"x8" (150mm x 200mm) steel tube pedestals. To ensure a smooth and accurate motion, crowned truck wheels with self-cleaning wipers are used.

Plasma Productivity
An initial Height Sensing (IHS) plasma height control is integrated into the Challenger’s operator control panel to meet the demands of high volume production. Pierce height is accurately set prior to each arc start and torch-to-plate distance is precisely maintained during cutting. The system utilizes a fast response servo motor with rack-and-pinion transmission, a plasma torch station, and an operator panel with digital display of the arc voltage. The operator control panel features adjustments for pierce height, pierce time, arc voltage, and retract distance at the end of the cut. The Challenger can be equipped with plasma systems up to 400 Amps.

Oxy-Fuel Performance
Heavy-duty high performance oxy-fuel components are your guarantee of superior productivity. The optional gas system includes twin sets of high and low pre-heat regulators to produce fast pierce rates and balanced torch flames, even with multiple torches. A domed high-flow oxygen regulator ensures uniform pierce rate control and outstanding flow capacity. The standard MT318 torch is designed for cutting plate up to 12" (300mm) thick.
